Host Information
In the United Kingdom, in co-operation with our associate agencies abroad, we place Au Pairs from the following countries:
- Czech Republic
- Slovakia
- Poland
- France
- Germany
- Spain
- Hungary
Please remember that an Au Pair lives as part of your family and is expected to be made welcome as a family member – not an employee or servant. They are coming to England to learn English so their English may seem poor when they first arrive.
Duties include child care and light housework.
In return for those duties an Au Pair should receive:
- their own bedroom and full board
- an opportunity to practise our language in a family setting
- part-time attendance at a language school (if requested)
- pocket money of minimum £80 per week for up to 30 hours, includes babysitting, any extra hours are paid on an hourly rate
Host families are requested to register their Au Pair with their NHS Doctor.
BAPAA recommends that the UK basic holiday allowance of 28 days per annum should apply or 1.66 days per month pro-rata if the placement is shorter than a year including Public and Bank Holidays.
